The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization and is now over 100 years old
devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to
mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor,
promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
Did you know? The Elsie American Legion has 99 members as of December 2013 of those, 62 are Army vets, 18 are Navy, 6 Marines, 8 Air Force, and 5 unknown.
We also have 5 members with over 50 years of continuous membership as a American Legion member.
